We also get some of the crazy with the introduction of mean-spirited Valentine's Day cards in the late 1800s, early 1900s. These cards were meant to irritate and annoy the receiving parties of these "vinegar cards." And, finally, we see the bad in Valentine's Day in the story of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre on February 14, 1929 in the height of the gangster era of Chicago, IL.
